Re: Golden Brown vs The Killing Moon
2Echo is the better band, but I'm obsessed with that Stranglers tiny little dittty since I was a kid.

4Good poll - both songs I love made by bands that I'm otherwise a bit indifferent about.
Stranglers > Echo...
But 'Killing Moon' takes it here.

5Always something creepy to me about Golden brown - it’s an unsettling kinda song - so always surprised when it popped up on commercial radio - esp w the heroin narrative (if you choose to interpret it that way)
… now if we were talking the OTHER Golden brown (Jehu) I could get a lot more enthusiastic!

6Nice poll! "The Killing Moon" is a very good single--blows anything you'll hear on mainstream radio today out of the water--but this isn't even a contest: "Golden Brown" is the winner. God-tier track, wouldn't change a thing about it.
Re: Golden Brown vs The Killing Moon
7Killing Moon by a landslide for me. One of the best songs of the 80s IMO.
I don’t have an opinion one way or the other about The Stanglers.

8This. I feel like The Stranglers had so much talent and potential, and attitude, they just had so few good songs.Vibracobra wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:18 pm Echo is the better band, but I'm obsessed with that Stranglers tiny little dittty since I was a kid.

9Is there a connection between the 2 songs? Not that there needs to be, but that's usually how these work.
Golden Brown for me. That eerie muzak quality is oddly timeless.

10That five-second guitar solo on “Golden Brown” is just perfect.
