Among record nerds they're as universally panned as Nickelback (play one and then the other if you want some contrast for insufferable). Granted, Morrison was an irredeemably pretentious ass hat, but musically they were pretty cool. Also a major influence on bands like Joy Division. reminds me of being in high school & partying at a good friend's older brother's shack. the doors were the shack soundtrack. said friend's older brother had taken to writing morrison inspired poetry. i remember one that was so epiphanic that it had to be tacked to the wall. the last lines read:
