Right now I’ve got ReaInsert in the master sending the output to output channels 3+4 into a bus-comp then back into the interface’s inputs 3+4. There are input and output levels showing in ReaInsert. And those affect the master levels. I can bypass the bus-comp and hear the change. But, because live audio is going through it when I Render there is just silence. I suspect the same will happen when I try it your way, unless I record it to that new track (which I can do). Was just hoping to just print it to wav file though in real time, as that’s what I always did in PT.mdc wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 10:38 am There's probably an easier way to do this, but worst case you could always create a dummy master bus (ie a new stereo channel); route everything to *that* instead of the master output; route the dummy master to a hardware output and input via reinsert; then send your dummy-master to the actual-master.

52I've never had an issue, I assume you have "Online Render" selected in the Rendering Options? It's been a while since I rendered with ReaInsert on the Master, as I'v kinda switched to bussing to another track and recording the outboard processed signal back in on its own track. I'll try some shit when I get home and see if I can duplicate the issue. I have found a few weird things in Reaper 7 with bussing that are odd at best. It's kinda been a bumpy update so far.tommy wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 10:49 amRight now I’ve got ReaInsert in the master sending the output to output channels 3+4 into a bus-comp then back into the interface’s inputs 3+4. 53ONLINE - that’s what I was missing! Thanks. My dumb ass thought that was internet related.Kniferide wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 11:00 amI've never had an issue, I assume you have "Online Render" selected in the Rendering Options? Re: Reaper for assholes
54Working on a cover song and have recorded it in the original key. BUT it turns out that it’s about two whole steps or so out of my range. If I wanted to pitch down the whole song, record the vocal in that key, then return the whole song to the original key with the vocal pitched up as well, would I do that with the song’s Playrate value?
Re: Reaper for assholes
56Playback Rate will slow it down and shift the pitch if that's OK for what you want to do. If you want to keep the same tempo but just pitch-shift the whole song, you'll likely need a plugin on the master bus for that.tommy wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:21 am Working on a cover song and have recorded it in the original key. Re: Reaper for assholes
57ReaPitch is useful for that too. If you can, try to just isolate just those high syllables so the whole track doesn't come out sounding squirrel-y.
Re: Reaper for assholes
58I would probably just render out a scratch of the mix, bring it into a track and pitch the item down, record my vocal to that scratch track, and then pitch the vocal track item back to match the original pitch. Are you doing a Chipmunks record?tommy wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:21 am Working on a cover song and have recorded it in the original key. Re: Reaper for assholes
59I’ll try that, but unfortunately pretty much the entire thing is just outside of my range, even with straining.penningtron wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:42 am ReaPitch is useful for that too. I understand how to use ReaPitch for a single track. I’m not sure I understand how to use it for a section of an entire song and then put it back. Maybe I’ll do a mixdown and sing to that so I don’t fuck anything up permanently.
Re: Reaper for assholes
60Ha, nope! I just have a lower voice with a limited range. More like a baritone trying to sing a tenor’s part. I figured two steps max wouldn’t sound too Chipmunky. Doesn’t have to sound natural, it’s indie rock ffs. Broken Social Scene’s Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl comes to mind for example. Ain’t natural. Sounds fine.Kniferide wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:48 am I would probably just render out a scratch of the mix, bring it into a track and pitch the item down, record my vocal to that scratch track, and then pitch the vocal track item back to match the original pitch.
