Speaking of the Spin Doctors one time I was hanging out at an even then cheesy to me alterna-club called Club950 where they'd play stuff like LaTour's "People Are Still Having Sex" and "Move Mountains" by Jesus Jones. I'm just minding my own business on the dancefloor dancing to any one of the aforementioned songs when a guy invades my space and wants to buy me a drink. He's telling me about how he loves the Spin Doctors and this would be a real treat. Dude thought I was the bass player. However, in his defense both the bassist and myself had the exact same chemically straightened hair do' pulled back in a little ponytail. I took the drink. I was vindicated years later at Touch & Go 25 when some dude thought I was Bernard Georges.

Has "Steal My Sunshine" from Len been mentioned? Honestly, I don't mind the song that much and dig the Andrea True Connection sample. I'd also get drunk and make out with dude's sister. She's hella cute.

I once read an oral history of Vice magazine's early days and they said that they somehow snuck a Vice sticker onto dude's scooter in that video and it was a huge early boost for them, around when Vice moved from Canada to NYC. So there's a pretty straight line from 'Sunshine' to January 6 and the collapse of American democracy, if you think about it.

So great. Watching the video again, many of the scooters have that sticker.
