Re: Requiescat FM Steve
392Oh yeah, I can hear that. Even weirder to me is the beat/intro is exactly Helicopter by XTC, which is a band Warmowski loved who of course gets a shoutout in the song. Still full of surprises, that Shellac.twelvepoint wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 12:47 pm Anyone else’s picking up a little “Lucifer Sam” in “Scabby”?

393I wanted to buy that record today and saw they were sold out. Know I’m late to it but fuck that record fucks me up everytimeCarl wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 10:36 am "Scrappers" would have put a lump in my throat even if Steve was still with us, given the content. Same with "Scabby the Rat."
The Wayback Machine preserved the lovely page Steve set up to remember John Grabski III. I know the text still circulates on the web, but if anyone gets comfort reading Steve's thoughts on life and death, maybe salvaging the formatting of the page and putting it on the studio's site would be good.
I’m so indescribably sad about Steve still doesn’t feel real

396I wish I didn't look.
Nothing major here. Just a regular EU cock. I pull it out and there is beans all over my penis. Bean shells all over my penis...

397On Sat May 25, the CIncinnati radio program Trash Flow Radio aired various remembrances of Steve Albini recorded by TR Johnson, David Grubbs, Jon Langford, Britt Walford, Robert Poss, Andy Newman, Tim Bugbee, Tim Adams, Peter Aaron, Chris Schadler, Chris Varias, Chris Tsakis, Jon Solomon, Jim DeRogatis, and Will Oldham (read by Cathy Bowman), plus lots of old clips of Steve Albini himself -- all set to instrumental music by Shellac, Mogwai, Slint, and Arsenal. 400This was shared on EA's social media account. I can't think of a better tribute to the man than to keep the studio running well into the future.
Hey Everyone,
We (Greg, Jon, Taylor, Mac, and Brian) wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all the support we’ve received since Steve’s untimely death. It’s been wonderful seeing a steady stream of friendly faces and hearing the building shake with music ever since. Naturally, people have been asking about the future of the studio, and what our plans are.
We aren’t going anywhere. Electrical will be around for a while to come. We have many irons in the fire, and a calendar chock-full of great musicians, engineers, and yes, producers. Inevitably, there’ll be some minor changes as we adjust, but we’re going to keep this place running as an affordable, crazy-good option for people making records. Smooth as always.
Don’t hesitate to call or email. Someone’s always here.
Yours in the fight,
EA
