I hope this doesn’t turn into a post-9/11 thing, when it was considered unpatriotic to criticize government or facets of government. It looks like the Trump team is starting to borrow from that playbook.
I keep telling myself that Teddy Roosevelt was shot on the campaign trail and didn’t get re-elected.

1702I’d accept the just a joke argument if it were actually funny. Supposedly these are pros.zorg wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:27 pmNever heard a single song from Tenacious D, so they couldn't be that funny, but ..... cripes, you're doing musical improv comedy. A giant robot is delivering you a Birthday Cake. Sometimes a joke goes awry.hbiden@onlyfans.com wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:33 pm My opinion of jack black actually went up. I wouldn’t want to be associated with that kind of hateful person. I’m trying to excuse it and I can’t.
Even Kyle realizes this now. Unless he’s lying.

1703It will, but only facets related to the RNC.Dave N. wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:43 pm I hope this doesn’t turn into a post-9/11 thing, when it was considered unpatriotic to criticize government or facets of government. It looks like the Trump team is starting to borrow from that playbook.

We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: Politics
1704I still think this is all pretty transparent. Trump has talked about violence, peddled in conspiracy and invited people to kill his opponents.
He commits crimes, trades on hate and fear. Him not being shot yet is the miracle.

Re: Politics
1706I think there are a lot of people thinking exactly what Kyle said. I’m pretty sure in passing many people here thought what Kyle said, even briefly before readjusting their moral compass back to “thou’t shall not kill”.
No one deserves to be shot, period. But let’s not pretend Trump is suddenly some innocent. He’s a borderline fascist will to use political violence to his own end.
If he wins expect four more years of the same chaos as last time but this time with the wheels of State being used to punish his opponents. It will be an endless series of constitutional transgressions and hateful rhetoric. White supremacists will feel enabled to enact lynchings. Expect more deadly violence against LGBT+ people. Expect further removal of women’s rights. It is going to be a shit show significantly worse than last time.
So yeah, a whole bunch of folks were thinking exactly what Kyle said.

1707I might suggest that people review their post history in this thread,, becaause there is a LOT of that sentiment being voiced fairly explicitly.Gramsci wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 4:43 pm So yeah, a whole bunch of folks were thinking exactly what Kyle said.

Re: Politics
1709I guess if you want to go full conspiracy mode, the DNC broke up Tenacious D. Jack Black was a speaker at Biden’s Hollywood Clooney fundraiser. Thus he’s literally 1 step removed from a cabinet member. Some migjht (and do) say weilding more power than a cabinet member as an illuminati donor. So he’s on the hook….insurrection wise.
Re: Politics
1710I have thought and said horrible things. My ancestors, and the safety and security for myself, family, friends, and community inform those thoughts. I'm sure I'm not alone. I understand KG's joke/wish, as well as believing it's a cop out to state he shouldn't have made them in a public setting while privately cheering him on. But like I alluded to earlier it's about the right to live and experience the same joys and freedoms as everyone else. Trump surrounds himself with the most wretched people of privilege and power. Once he no longer occupies this realm those people will remain and that's terrifying. No idea where we go from here. Is this it? Are we at the time where so many nations have historically found themselves? Anyhoo, I hope Jack and Kyle remain buds; I'm sure they will.
I'm still buggin' there hasn't been any footage of Trump taken to a hospital, or a press conference with medical professionals who treated him. When he caught COVID he cruised around a hospital while throngs of adoring supporters cheered him on. Where was all of that for his projectile helix piercing? I don't think it's unreasonable for one's mind to wander, especially when one considers the documented outrageous and outlandish atrocities that the wealthy and powerful have committed against the most marginalized.
