But now magically that dragon is slain and Harris is just going to glide through to the nomination? I mean, it's not like she's worse than anyone out there, and in many regards has a better record on a lot of things Biden didn't prioritize - important things too like abortion, marijuana, CJ reform so I kinda feel like, whatever, just point me to the voting booth when the time comes, but still. The unity they're pulling off def. feels very coordinated.
I would love AOC, Jeffries or even Buttigieg as VP, We'll see. All three of those people are miles better than what we've seen from dems in the past, so that's promising.
I dunno man. I kinda figured this was coming, but the coordination feels weird. Not used to this kind of plan working for dems..
(Also, as much shit as JB takes, he's made some really good progress. Attacking predatory rental price fixing, ending Non competes for workers....those are Big Deal things that don't get reported because Trump fumbling through a speech littered with half assed school yard insults is plastered all over MSM.)
Totally with you on the MSM. Sunday morning, before Biden made his announcement, one of the lead stories on Apple News (sourced to CNN, I think?) was “five key takeaways” from a recent Trump rally. So my attention to so little of consequence or interest.
In terms of veeps, I’ve seen NC’s Governor suggested. He’s term limited anyway. And while VP choices seldom move the needle, it’s also not like Biden got shellacked in NC in 2020. That’s a winnable state. At least make Trump work for it!

1835Biden has done the right thing. He and his legacy will be regarded more favorably now.
And I do believe Harris is a better candidate than Trump. Aside from whatever issues are at stake, in general, she will exercise much more sound judgment and rise to the occasion, build a better coalition on the global stage. America’s better off with a former prosecutor at the helm than a felon who’s never said one bad thing about Putin. (Right-wingers who say Trump “can’t be bought” need look no farther than Russia.)

1836That is a sincerely encouraging thought. I don’t have much faith in what she would do as president, but it is always good for young women of color to have representation and to be encouraged to participate in democracy. Fine if people want to have a cynical take on things, especially politics at this level.
But I feel a lot more enthusiastic about this race today than I did before the announcement.
Lefties will temper their enthusiasm accordingly, if they have any at all, I guess. But I think there's something real at stake and this isn't "over."
