Since I've been living in homes, I've been robbed exactly once. Not a bad run.
In that same time, I have been literally robbed by insurance companies, construction companies, employers, credit card companies, auto finance companies....you get the drift. And I'm not talking about just an inconvenience - I'm talking about changing terms and conditions, not providing services originally contracted, somehow not posting huge payments that I had to prove they received, that sort of thing. Actual money stolen in both cash and time.
For most of that time, I've lived near the border - nearer than most. I have never once known anyone robbed by an "illegal immigrant" and the stats enforce this observation.
I don't know how the liars can lie like this.

Ok if I copy this pretty much verbatim to use when needed?
I have some similar scripts in my mind for stuff like “need to own a firearm” and “needing police”
Re: Politics
1994Ok I’ll just leave this here:

70 pro-Trump election deniers work as election officials in swing states. They sit poised to aid in Trump’s efforts to call into question — and let’s face it — overturn the November election. Most likely, they’ll do this by refusing to certify election results in their counties, which has become an increasing practice among pro-Trump local election officials
Re: Politics
1995I'm not sure how they can justify not certifying election results. It's incredible how many childish morons are in positions of power in this stupid country.

Re: Politics
1996^ I do believe there is reason to be concerned about election integrity, but the above statistic does not surprise me at all considering roughly half of election workers (plus or minus) are republicans and most of them just do as their master says now. If anything, I'm surprised that the number is just 70.
There were multiple election officials that attempted to not certify or decertify their election results in 2020 and they all lost in courts, even with many judges being Trump appointees. Also, Trump obviously hasn't appointed any new judges in the last three years, and while Biden is likely not going to top the number of Trump judge appointments, it's going to be close.

I.e., I think checks and balances specifically on the topic of certifying elections are still in place.
I am more concerned with republicans trying to lawfully change election rules beforehand in their favor.

Re: Politics
1997Election integrity is a hoax. Campaigns have been tipping the scales in whatever way they can to favor them from bussing people to polling places, delivering ballots for mail in purposes, even kicking people off voter rolls for forever.
Like JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THESE PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT the solution is very simple. Standardized balloting across the country run by multiple different competing organizations with open source code and community access to results and the raw data. Run the elections over a 5 day period from Friday to Tuesday so access isn't an issue like today. We do this shit in the real world all the time.
The problem here is that the solution would take away the complaint, and the complaint is what's really valuable.

Re: Politics
1998I mean, if this is true, couldn't the president order their arrest? This possibly cannot happen in broad daylight. And if he did, wouldn't it technically be official duties of the office, of which he is now totally immune?Krev wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:19 pm I'm not sure how they can justify not certifying election results. Re: Politics
1999Wow, Trump really ate shit at the NABJ (black journalists event). Getting pissy at questions about his trustworthiness for black Americans and questioning Harris' blackness. His team surely winced helplessly through the entire thing.
