I still think it was a “safe” pick but…

Outside of being a straight white male of a certain age, I don't see it. Aggressively Pro Labor (pinko), was the Faculty Adviser for a LGBTQ school group (groomer), has a DUII on his record (drunk), Free Lunches for school kids (pinko), and enshrined Abortion Rights as governor (Baby Killer).

All things considered, Walz was a GREAT pick compared to the couch fucker.
why was he the safe pick?

who was the dangerous pick?

he helps you retain MN/WI/MI and he is a great public speaker that is 100% genuine. he talks and acts like the guy who taught social studies and helped coach the football team because he was that guy. he doesn’t pander, he doesn’t try to be something he isn’t. he’s normal, he tells the truth and isn’t afraid to attack. pro union, pro-lgbt, spent over 20 years in the service, even his DUI allows him to tell the rest of the story, that it caused him to quit drinking immediately.

he was the best pick of the lot, it isn’t even close.

No fewer than two people have already pointed out that the fact that Walz is an old white guy does not make him a safe pick. I disagree.

All of her final candidates were old white guys. Maybe one or two were slightly less than old. But all were safe.

As far as I am aware, she wasn’t considering a minority and/or non-male running mate. Maybe Whitmer for a minute? But she wasn’t in the final running I don’t think.

Non old white guy presidential candidates (Obama, Clinton, now Harris) always pick old white guy running mates.

Our nation is addicted to old white guys.

Stop it.

Anyway, as I said, still a way better pick than the couch fucker.

I watched Harris and Walz tonight with my wife at the Philly announcement. Walz sounded fucking pissed in the best possible way. I'm fucking pissed. We're all fucking pissed. So refreshing to see actual human emotion come out of a politician.

Between this and J.B., I'm starting to like these pissed off Democrats. (Anyone seen what Pritzker told the Bears? Wow!)

Walz is 60. I'm 55. Steve was 61. It's not very old.

She definitely went for the person she liked the most who was willing to do it (Whitmer wasn't going to do it).

Shapiro was this election cycle's equivalent of Kaine--a straddle, a wash, a "safe" pick that didn't motivate anyone who wasn't voting for HRC anyway.

Harris campaign very wisely saw a) Shapiro wasn't going to get them PA on his own and b) in every other way Walz was more energizing for the base and better for any other state in play. And she liked him. It was unusually shrewd without being overly calculating, and it gives me hope for November.
