Spending time w the Warsaw record today - one of the all time greats imo… got me thinking of great recordings never released at the time, but posthumously great - Misfits Static Age also springs to mind. First Blaze Foley in a roundabout way too…
Watcha got?
Re: Greatest albums never released
2Both of those records (Warsaw, Static Age) are great. Off the top of my head, I'll add:

3Unwound's self titled; released in 1995. It was recorded in 1992 with B Sandeno on drums. But in 1995 the band still existed.
Circus Lupus first demo session at Inner Ear with Eli Janney dates from 1990 and has been released this summer.

4I don't think the second Dukes of Nothing album (working title Boston) ever got a release. Great record. To be fair though this thread can be closed with Tape Loop Orchestra's The Killian Tapes - got turned onto this by a good friend years back and it's just brilliant.

5Static Age was released in 1996. It was recorded in 1978, but it was finally released. No?
Re: Greatest albums never released
6I don't think the thread title is exactly correct. The OP did say that these are albums that were "never released at the time" (i.e., not released in a reasonably expected timeframe) and then gave examples of records that were eventually released. So I interpreted it that way.enframed wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 9:38 am Static Age was released in 1996. It was recorded in 1978, but it was finally released. No?

9Along those lines the Coffin Pricks album was just released this year, when the band was only active around 2012-ish.Vibracobra wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 8:31 am Circus Lupus first demo session at Inner Ear with Eli Janney dates from 1990 and has been released this summer.
