Who is doing the deciding on what amounts to "Landmark..."?
Re: Musical Late Bloomers
52A good place to look is also a certain post-WWII generation of non-Western composers or performers who came relatively late in life to a more authenitic approach to things rooted more in their cultures after studying the European / American avant-garde.
Jose Maceda is a good example.
There are probably more good examples of this in pop music etc. too.

The joke is in the idea that Bowie didn't make any impact until "I'm Afraid of Americans" which most fans would find to be a ridiculous belief.ChudFusk wrote:Curry Pervert wrote: Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:34 pmYeah, he didn’t really blossom until he did that collab with Trent ReznorCurry Pervert wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 9:35 pm Bowie.
Slogged away for years in various incarnations before making any kind of impact.

55Robert Pollard/Guided by Voices - the story (I think) was that he was going to call it quits with Propeller, as he was in his mid-30s at the time. And that was before Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes.
Sleaford Mods (previously mentioned)
Edit - can also argue that the classic line-up’s best material was during their reunion nearly 20 years later

60You think? He was what, mid-20s when Nighthawks at the Diner came out, and that's a fine record.
