I was one of the babies on here in the early days and ended up moving from the UP of Michigan to Chicago at 23, in 2005. I was welcomed with such open arms by the people I’d met here that my early days in Chicago felt much more warm and joyous than I could have imagined. It was so nice being able to go to shows and know several people there, day one. It sucks being the new kid in town and lurking alone at the underground rock event. I’m very grateful to this forum for sparing me that experience.

I’ve lived a full ass adult life since then, which I won’t bore you with, and I haven’t been active here in a decade at least, but I still lurk occasionally out of curiosity, and it’s amazing to see that some of the OGs are still knocking around, ruminating, ranking, and crap/not crapping on this comfortingly beige php forum.

I honestly kind of fell off here due to a lot of the misogyny and toxic white male ranting and opinion bullying. The Marsupializification, if you will.
marsupialized was an equal opportunity bully and he's welcome back anytime. the loveline thread was just a bunch of nerds willingly asking for it and it was glorious.
I do seem to remember that he lightened up and befriended people on here eventually. Which is cool. But when he first showed up he was kind of unbearable, and it seemed like the beginning of a wave of trolls that just kind of gave me the ick.

At the time I think I was a bit too sensitive to read a lot of that toxicity on a daily basis and be able to walk away from my computer in a good mood.

This is I think the only part of the internet I truly care about? I've been lurking since I was 17, I think I made one post a year or something. I'm 40 now.
Some aspect of this forum helped direct my professional life into the music equipment biz, maybe because of all the impressive, inspiring people who were/are on here creating and doing.

My now spouse really never had any idea how much of my mindshare was spent on here until we both got to spend a day with fm JSP and fm steve. They remain the only two posters I've met :( Maybe benAdrian?
I wish I met more, and I'd love to come to a BBQ - like others cancer fucked our life up but things are getting a bit more normal.

much love for everyone here - a real cool place

I’ve been here in one form or another since…2005? I actually don’t even know. I feel it was early to mid 00’s I started lurking. I followed Mama Clotho onto here cos I looked up to him so much in real life. I still come here now daily cos it makes me feel closer to him.

RIP mama

I want to borrow Steve’s ridiculous ‘train shitting’ watch for a few days. Maybe it could be a Stanley Cup kind of thing where individuals can earn the privilege of wearing it around and doing gross things.
