Re: Requiescat FM Steve

I wanted to leave a bunch of space for Steve's friends to grieve him here, but instead I left way too much and have been AWOL.

No one needs a eulogy from me—I only had two real-life interactions with him, and in my decade+ here I don't think I've made one valuable post?—but I did want to finally register my condolences on the board.

My sincere condolences to everyone here, and anyone whose world is diminished by Steve's absence, which is everyone.

Maybe not the ideal context to bring this up--should there be a separate thread perhaps?--but I think the two LPs Steve recorded for Spare Snare haven't gotten enough attention around here. Quality stuff!

Of course, when I told two friends of mine, who got me into Spare Snare in the nineties, about the first one, they didn't reply. Then the LP Sounds got released. Then about six months later, one of these friends, who's always been a massive Steve Albini fan, gets in touch and says something to the effect of, "Have you heard this? This sounds so good!"

You get old enough and having friends is like not having friends, a fair chunk of the time. But yes, I agree, dingus, it does sound good!

^ sorry for the crappy pic but this was taken at the last Breeders show (and not to derail the thread but I don't think I'm a big fan of Salt Shed. It's far too big).
