I wouldn't expect you too, I was just a little surprised at your comment that Hamas should disband, as if that would improve things for the Palestinians.

No, you're probably correct. Other than some outlier like a random nuke button press the future looks pretty much as you've outlined.

Yeah, because their dude was too scared to do it because he was going to be fact checked in real time, so they have to push this BS to try to restore some sort of 'balance'.
hold up maybe we need to all get on the same page. there's a lot happening i know.
cbs offered harris and trump a one on one interview. he said no. she said yes. fine.
in her interview she gave a rambling non response to a question about bibi and it was aired on sunday. then when the show aired on monday they took out that answer and replaced it with a more sensible answer (to a different question). i don't know what balance has to do with it. whether it was intended to make harris look better is up to you to decide, but the new edit certainly didn't make her look worse.
two weeks later, CBS has broken their silence and...
they don't deny it improved her answer and you just have to trust they had good intentions.

Here's their actual statement. They're doing a lot less 'twisting the narrative' than you are.

Former President Donald Trump is accusing 60 Minutes of deceitful editing of our Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false.

60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide ranging 21-minute-long segment.

Remember, Mr. Trump pulled out of his interview with 60 Minutes and the vice president participated.

Our long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open. If he would like to discuss the issues facing the nation and the Harris interview, we would be happy to have him on 60 Minutes.

An interesting breakdown of British attitudes to the US election.

https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/ ... l-election

It gives me a bit of hope rightwing shitfuckary isn’t likely to happen here soon. But we do have a FPP parliamentary democracy so there’s always room for that 18% of ghouls to win a “murder” of seats.

The biggest danger is starmer not improving anything. He won with quite a small vote share in a low turn out election and his approval ratings (which weren't high to begin with) have since tanked. Yes, there is still over 4 years to make changes but it's not looking promising and I'm being generous here.

Given that reform helped starmer win while also managing to get 5 seats themselves, a tory/reform coalition could potentially win easily at some point in the future. Apathy and disillusionment is oxygen to the right.

yeah i read it too. that statement amounts to little more than, "please trust us and our motives." they'd have been better off saying nothing at all.
i'm not twisting anything. i just don't take their words at face value, based on their track record. again, you can trust whoever you want. that's your choice. but if they had nothing to hide, they could simply release the unedited transcripts and avoid THIS WHOLE DRAMA. the fact that they don't must mean something.

Just so our American FMs can get a window into the pathetic desperation of the British establishment and media. Here’s this non story that is front page news here:

Utterly pathetic this is even a story here.
