Debut, Di'Anno has the better voice for heavy metal (I believe former FM BER described it as "swarthy") and the better songs are on the debut versus Killers. I like the scrappy production too, the later over-the-top dramatic stuff is borderline power metal.

I do like NOTB and probably owe Piece of Mind a re-listen. But yeah, early Maiden is a superlative metal band, shame Di'Anno couldn't keep it together.

Oh I've done this many times already. It's the only Maiden I know, as it was a staple on the drives to Donnington way back when.

It'll definitely get a rehearing though, and I'll likely give the next few after Powerslave a whirl too.

Powerslave! But my favorite single song of their catalog is The Trooper. And it isn’t close.

They did a ton of great shit with Bruce, but "Murders in the Rue Morgue" remains my favorite. Paul was definitely one of metal's greatest front men. Up the irons!
