Watching King of New York and
- Christopher Walken's performance is fantastic and very, very weird
- stacked cast
- speaking of, it's kind of funny that Biggie Smalls was like "yeah I'm gonna call myself after Christopher Walken who is acting like that, that's the vibe."
- having Schooly D's "Black Enough For You" playing really prominently in a nightclub scene in a movie in which a white man named Frank White heads a Black gang is really something of a decision! Ferrara was definitely going for something! I have questions about what and whether he hit the mark but he definitely was Going For It

612We watched Anora last night. Completely amazing. Just brilliant. The reviews have all been wonderful, but they also struggle to describe the movie’s tone.
Sean Baker shot it on 35mm film, and the Music Box has both film and digital projections. We went to a film projection and are glad we did.

613Cannot wait to see this. Red Rocket and Tangerine are a couple of the best films I've seen in the last decade. Hope is shows up out in the hinterlands where we live.Wood Goblin wrote: Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:20 am We watched Anora last night. Completely amazing. Just brilliant. 614Watched Poltergeist for like the umpteenth time last night. What a phenomenal film that still holds up. I found myself reciting dialogue and even noticing new things like how the reflection in Marty's glasses makes him look like a demon as he slowly approaches the the haunted steak inchworming across the countertop. Many layers to the dialogue in the film as well. One of the most adorable lines of script happens when a distraught Carol Anne is burying Tweety: for when he's hungry, for when he's lonely, for when it's nighttime. It's a cute scene, but when taken in the context of the Beast lurking within the interdimensional space of her closet it's harrowing. And how hot is Craig T Nelson? Hubba hubba.
Justice for Dexter Wade and Nakari Campbell

I think Hackman was doing his best to ham but he seems incapable of delivering a crap performance. Delightfully unhinged.

618I made it to 50 without ever seeing The Godfather.
Watched it last night with a buddy who was visibly upset that I haven't seen it.
Really fantastic movie.
