Inspired by the gear confessions thread, what are some cool signature things you dig regardless (or maybe in spite of) who's signature model it is?
Lemmy Model one - a JMP super bass you could buy in the 2000s? awesome
Eastwood is whatever, but all of their Warren Ellis guitars at least look great,
Another 2000s thing, the Mike Dirnt Basses were a way to get a 50s style PBass

2Airplane/Tuna is mostly not for me, although Jack Casady seems like a sound guy, but I think the Epi Jack Casady bass represents an ideal for this kind of thing:
- not just a regular SKU with cosmetic upgrades
- endorsee regularly uses actual product
- regular-person list price

3I'm not even a big Dinosaur Jr person but the J Mascis Jazzmaster opened up the instrument to a new generation of players.
The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass was mentioned in the other thread and that's a good one. Just a solid, classy JB with a faster neck.

4Chris Stapleton Princeton - Better speaker, better transformers, bias-wiggle tremolo, looks cool, and it's not obviously a signature amp.

5Just watched the demo. Sounds nice, but it's about $1000 more (don't quote me on this) than Dr Balls would charge and what really chafes me is they include a polarity switch that does nothing. Come on with having this needless switch on a thing with 400 volts that only will confuse people.Nate Dort wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 6:20 am Chris Stapleton Princeton - Better speaker, better transformers, bias-wiggle tremolo, looks cool, and it's not obviously a signature amp.

6Enlighten me if im wrong but dont ALL Princetons have bias wiggle trem?
That's nether here nor there, imo, as itts true for most things.twelvepoint wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:15 am it's about $1000 more (don't quote me on this) than Dr Balls would charge
Re: Signature Gear: The Good Stuff
7I dont know that its empirically good, but its definitely GOOD STUFF that the PRS John Mayer was allowed to happen. Motherfucker got them to make Strat with a stupid neck with birds and shit on it and collect a check for it. GOOD STUFF.
Re: Signature Gear: The Good Stuff
8The "Miyavi" Telecaster.
His music is poison, but it's a Tele with a whammy bar and a Sustainer pickup in the neck position, and it just looks like a normal Tele. GOOD INSTRUMENT.

9I was going to post that. I am not a huge fan of Jazz basses, but for some reason that Geddy Lee one is pretty awesome, probably the best looking Jazz bass, too.penningtron wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 5:31 am The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass was mentioned in the other thread and that's a good one. 10These are tight. The last metal-ish band I was in tuned down a half step and I found the extra thickness on these to be welcoming. Plus, while i'm not a West Ham supporter, I welcome the silks in alternating West Ham colors.
