Which, granted, is pretty insignificant in the scheme of things. But never mind, you're the life of the party! As others have pointed out.

And right, just b/c it aligns w/US policy (well, aside from our powerful far right, which just loves to justify Ukraine's occupation via outlandish conspiracies) it "must" automatically be wrong. Never mind the facts on the ground. Never mind what's right there in plain sight re: Russian history and foreign policy. But never mind all that, life is simple!

I'd say it's more off-kilter to insist you're showing people up left and right when many of them merely wrote you off pages ago as either a self-congratulatory gadfly or simply not worth debating.

(Never mind that saying, "hey, but other people are even more knee-jerk than I am" is hardly much of a position. Ok, that's just awesome.)

I've thought about it, and accepted it would be tough, but I have the advantage that demand for social workers is quite high in Canada at the moment, especially in the areas where I actually know people, and especially in hospitals, which is where almost all of my experience is.

Indeed. I can't imagine what it's like to be trans in a country where the thought of giving people who are trans basic human rights is enough for a significant portion of the population to vote for trump. I'm sorry, and I wish it was different, or that I could do more to change it. That's not much, but I guess that's all I have. At some point you kinda have to accept that most Americans are still kinda gross, and it's probably not going to change until something catastrophic happens and people have no choice but to work together.
