3332I think the better movie analogy at this point is Groundhog Day. This is exactly how it felt when ding dongs and openly corrupt people like DeVos and Pruitt were nominated. I'm just numb to it now, there is no bottom.
Re: Politics
3333At least The Onion is run by good people. It sounds like they largely bought InfoWars to ensure the Sandy Hook families got paid. Alex Jones should he sharing a cell with Diddy.
I'd rather be throwing darts.

3334The way society's going, that'd probably end up as a reality show. Or a sex tape.Krev wrote: Alex Jones should he sharing a cell with Diddy.

3335as much as i love beavis & butthead & office space & luke wilson can you believe i still haven't seen idiocracy?DaveA wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2024 11:54 pm I saw Idiocracy for the first time the other week, thought it was largely amusing. But honestly even before these nominations this week, the part that tracked the most was a stupid society having a cabinet full of incompetents.
Boo!

Re: Politics
3338There is an estimated 13.3 million undocumented immigrants in America. The system can only handle at most about 230,000 deportations a year. Currently, we can only handle holding 40,000 at one time. There's an estimated cost of about $950,000,000,000 to deport 1 million people in a single year. So, if we want to deport all 13.3 million undocumented immigrants, it will cost about $13,000,000,000,000 over 10 years. (This is just a conservative estimate, Trump has talked about deporting more that just undocumented immigrants, but also naturalized citizens and even actual citizens who he doesn't like.) The effect on the economy is supposed to sharply reduce our GDP and is terribly inflationary, driving up costs, unemployment numbers, affecting our agriculture, as well as directly affecting 1 in 15 people in the US, who will have at least one family member deported. Oh, and we don't currently have a system in place to manage this kind of policy effectively.
