That's awesome dude, definitely worth celebrating.defendyachtrock wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 11:33 am It took me halfway through my haircut yesterday when a vodka commercial came on the TV to realize that I hit year 9 of sobriety.
Grabbed some NA cider from the grocery store to celebrate a little. It does feel weird to celebrate—I don’t think I make big hay of my birthday even except with my girlfriend since our birthdays are so close together—but whatever, I’m treating myself.

2322Was pumped to see Kid Congo Powers last night. First in line with my buddy, although courtesy calls for allowing the people sat in tables along the wall by the door to go in first. It was never going to be an issue with us because we're grown-ups, but when they opened the doors, a guy sitting at one of those tables stood up and elbowed my buddy out of the way. Some tone of voice followed with the guy asking if we wanted to go outside, etc. We Let a few people in after him, got our handstamps, and made our way to merch. Dude comes right back over to us and at that point security intervened and said that he had had an eye on my buddy and I and we needed to calm the fuck down. We got upstairs and took our seats, coincidentally a couple of rows up from Mr. Elbow and his little group. The venue posted someone upstairs, and after my buddy went back down to get a beer and was told we were cut off, he came back up and said he was going to head out. So we left, and about halfway down the block, the guy comes up behind us to "apologize.' I don't know if he had a burning desire to take a beating (and even 5 years ago, I would have been more than happy to help him with that) or was just under-medicated, but we kept moving. Whole thing felt weirdly scripted, and I had really wanted to see that show. But nobody ended up in the hospital or in jail, so I guess a win overall?

2323Went to see GY!BE last night and had the most wonderful time. "Raindrops Cast in Lead" nearly took me out.

2326Haha! Yeah it was great to see you, albeit briefly, FM Nico Adie.Nico Adie wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 6:30 pm Bumped into FM night_tools at the Wand gig in Glasgow, very nice
That was my third gig in quick succession after several years of basically being an antisocial shut-in. Felt good to be back in Glasgow, and good to be out of the house.

2327I saw them Monday night in Lawrence, KS. They were incredible, and yeah, 'Raindrops' is one of the better pieces on that new record of theirs.rsmurphy wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 12:28 pm Went to see GY!BE last night and had the most wonderful time. "Raindrops Cast in Lead" nearly took me out.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
