Is it in Sardinia? I'm ready to leave this all behind and it's falls squarely within my price range.
I know a guy whose been trying to move to Italy for years and it's a fuckin process. Also you are required to have a decent amount of passive income. He might finally pull it off in the next few months, though on his most recent visit he was put through even more dogshit hurdles.

I applied for information here. Have been to Sardinia. It's amazingly beautiful, rustic, has this wild feeling to it. Some town in Puglia has a similar thing going. Programs like this are cool to a degree, but in Sardinia they generally do not like outsiders in small towns. Needs a balance between investment and keeping the culture alive. I'd live there in a minute. You're just a cheap 1 hour flight from Rome, too, if you need a city fix.

I understand that sentiment, but it feels like a platitude. You're able to affect change in your own community, but I don't know if any regular individual has the power to depose the Mike Johnson's of America.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

I am very curious if any of you guys ultimately pulls the trigger on the move, so please do report back.

In terms of the "stay and fight" mentality....I can't say I'm not a proponent of cowardice and self-preservation. If there are places you rather be, you owe nobody anything (spouse and kids excepted). Fuck obligations.

I've been thinking some weird thoughts on my existence in the U.S. during all of this shit. It might be how some bourgeois Parisian was thinking in the spring of 1940, but like maybe just being around, being normal/not insane, and doing my work in my community is just a little bit of ballast against the spiraling chaos. Like maybe when this shit show shows just how stupid and gnarly it can be, the gravitational center can hold a little better with all of us non-evil folks representing.

I'm down to demonstrate too. I think it's going to be tricky, because I can't be bothered to just protest Trump. He's the popularly elected president, so it's all about watching the legislative agenda, organizing and pushing back on specific moves they try to make. We need to pressure congress to hold the dam.
