When the covid vax had been available for a while and the blue state / red state covid death numbers began to diverge, it was darkly tempting to find joy in the demise of stupid Trumpers.
Instead I found myself angry and disgusted at the whole system for even allowing such a grim debacle to unfold in the first place. This feels a bit like that.
Re: C/NC: Gleeful reactions to horrible events happening to people we don't like
12It's really astounding to realize how much truly evil shit rich people get themselves involved in to get and remain rich. They are operating on a different level. Different rules.
I felt awful reading about the Titan submersible, thinking about the occupants final moments, and didn't understand the gleeful reactions to the tragedy. Don't know much of the exploits of Stockton Rush, OceanGate, or any of the other occupants, but that's a terrible way to go and I don't feel like a simp for recognizing my humanity. If the submersible was populated with Stormfront members I'd feel much different. I guess it depends on the person and method of death.

Justice for Javion Magee, Destinii Hope, Kelaia Turner, Dexter Wade and Nakari Campbell

13If someone walked up and murdered the CEO of Planned Parenthood in cold blood a lot of the same people that seem thrilled about this Shit Head CEO getting gun pufft would be furious. Same action. What we are talking about is a group of people celebrating murder because it aligns with their belief structure and that is pretty dangerous and terrible no matter how you slice it.
Vigilantism is crap.

The CEO of United Healthcare was an objectively evil person, responsible for the death and impoverishment of countless Americans. His death should absolutely be celebrated, and I hope there are more to come.
Re: C/NC: Gleeful reactions to horrible events happening to people we don't like
15I used to feel similarly to FM Kniferide. I don't anymore. I don't think what happened here was vigiliatiasm. I think that if you remove the latitude we give people who carry out awful things in the name of profit, you realize this man was 100% a net negative on society, siphoning money from needy, dying people to enrich himself and the people who support him.
There's no excuse for what Brian what's his name did unless you allow the profit motive to be an alibi for mass murder.

Re: C/NC: Gleeful reactions to horrible events happening to people we don't like
17Sure but there was a team of people feeding him these awful policies, and a board of directors happily giving their approval. There are dozens of other fleece vest dudes who will gladly take this dude's place (with beefed up security next time) so what was the point of all this.
Re: C/NC: Gleeful reactions to horrible events happening to people we don't like
18Despite all the atrocities committed by his company, his compensation seems low. Check out what the CEO's of defense contractor, i.e., Boeing and Lockheed, get.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: C/NC: Gleeful reactions to horrible events happening to people we don't like
19I don't really see that as a relevant question. It's pretty clear this was some kind of revenge or perceived self defense.penningtron wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 4:44 pmSure but there was a team of people feeding him these awful policies, and a board of directors happily giving their approval. You're portraying this like he had no choice. He had a choice. I'm not saying he deserved what happened, again, I'm only saying he made decisions that 100% killed people, crippled families, destroyed marriages, etc. This is undeniable. That an American, with our gun culture, took up arms is unsurprising to me.
They made a whole movie based on this shit with Denzel didn't they?
