You can split low impedance outputs multiple times without any special circuitry. There's enough drive current on the output of your preamp to drive the high impedance inputs of your mixer and recorder. Just use a Y cable.
That radial box is overkill, unless you're driving long runs or the two destinations are on different grounds and would possibly cause ground loops.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2222I had my Allen Heath taking mic preamps into the line inputs and feeding the Interface via Direct Outputs of each channel, I modded the direct outputs (just a jumper) to feed pre fader so my faders didn't affect the direct out level. I did a few tests to see how the console affected the signal to record, it made a difference, but not an any gigantic terrible way, plus it gave me EQ to record if needed. The allen heath master section was where I heard the most coloration, so I stopped monitoring this way most of the time. No need for that Radial box really IMO, you could probably use Y cables.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 11:34 am Just kind of spitballing here but if I want to split two line level channels from a mic preamp to four different outs without a patchbay what would you recommend?
Radial stuff looks tight but of course two lx-2s is like $500.
Basically I am wanting to take two outs from a mic preamp to go to a mixer for monitoring and the recorder for recording.
I currently have my Midas Venice desk rigged to do this without latency but I’m not really sure what the mixer is doing to the external preamp sound.

2223Why does it always seem like the E string on my bass(es) goes dead/dull sounding before the other strings? Doesn’t matter the tuning or brand or which bass, I feel like after a couple of shows the other three strings sound fine, if a tad duller than when newly fresh, but the E (well in my case the D since I’m tuned down a step) always seems like it goes first.

2224I wonder if it’s a tension thing. At least that’s why dropped d can sound so good and shitty at the same time on guitar.tallchris wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 6:04 pm Why does it always seem like the E string on my bass(es) goes dead/dull sounding before the other strings? 2225I'm guessing in general it gets played more than the other strings by a good amounttallchris wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 6:04 pm Why does it always seem like the E string on my bass(es) goes dead/dull sounding before the other strings? 2226I play my A string more than any other, at least in my current band.TylerDeadPine wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 9:19 pmI'm guessing in general it gets played more than the other strings by a good amounttallchris wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 6:04 pm Why does it always seem like the E string on my bass(es) goes dead/dull sounding before the other strings? Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2227I had the "e string goes dead first" happen when I was playing bass Replicator. I would just buy whatever strings were cheapest, usually. I found that D'Addario seemed to last the longest for me. Ernie ball and rotosound had very quick lifespans for the low E. Like maybe 4-5 practices/shows.
Once, I went into a Guitar Center and a set of Elixir strings were in the bargain bin. I bought them expecting to hate them, but they lasted almost two years on my bass. They were not amazing the whole time, but they were not terrible and never went totally dead, which is fantastic because I was really broke back then.

2228Yeah that tracks exactly
Taylor put Elixirs (now coated D'Addario) not because they were the best, but they were 'pretty good' the longest.
the coated D'Addario to me sound better with the same holding-up time, and D'Addario rocks.

2229Anyone have experience buying from Japanese auction sites? I stumbled onto https://www.jauce.com but haven't actually ordered anything yet. Anyone used this site? or have others to recommend? I'm also curious about logistics RE: shipping and whatnot.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2230Thinking about investing in a good reverb pedal, and am overwhelmed by all of the options. I won't want to spend more than $400 or so.
I'd use it for ambient music, mainly.
The Strymon stuff looks well reviewed, but I'm also wondering about the Boss RV-500.
Thoughts?
