Lovely. I just got back from a hike in the hills above the village my girlfriend is from, outside of Koblenz (lady and kid went to Cologne for a day to visit her sister). The village was covered in fog again today, maybe up to an elevation of 100m or so, then glorious blue sky. I hiked to the Roman tower in the hills to the north and watched the sun go down, before trekking back in the halflight. Nothing but gauze below to the horizon, covering the Rhine valley and beyond.Dovira wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 8:29 am Today's weather: Thick mist. The sky changes colour from greyish blue to greyish white and back again.

2382One of my morning duties at work is raising the flag. I put it at half-staff this morning to commemorate Jimmy Carter’s passing. It felt good to not commemorate slaughter or tragedy, but to honor human decency and a life well-lived.

2384I dunno if it's the Wegovy or if something's going around, but I've been power-hlorking for the last couple days. I seem to be holding things down a little better now.

2385Probably the latter, as apparently there are norovirus outbreaks all over the country right now.ErickC wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:27 pm I dunno if it's the Wegovy or if something's going around, but I've been power-hlorking for the last couple days. Little details from my day:
A late Xmas gift arrived yesterday: a pair of antique phonograph needle tins. The tins still contained needles, too, though (a) several had spots of rust, and (b) they’re all loud-tone needles, which are often *too* loud and also wear down post-1925 shellacs.
Speaking of which, I just ordered several 78s, including some 78s of Japanese folk music that I’ll need to un-warp in my oven.

2386I'm fairly confident it was the meds. I have been having some pretty gnarly side effects and have come close to barfing a few times. This last dose came later than usual due to my being delayed in picking it up, and I started having all the usual symptoms (gut rot, belching sulfur burps, diarrhea, headaches, fatigue, horrendous gas) but worse than usual within 24 hours of the shot. 2 days later and all of the symptoms have improved at the same time as well. My doctor has taken me off it because I'm not losing much weight and now we're going to try Topamax.Wood Goblin wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 1:48 pmProbably the latter, as apparently there are norovirus outbreaks all over the country right now.
