You are not alone. I had all my shit scanned (fine). I know of many others and one bypass surgery so far as a result.
Why this isn't an annual prescribed routine checkup covered by insurance for middle-aged and older folks (like getting cameras stuck up our asses) is beyond me.
Just looked up how much the scan costs (without insurance) and it's $60 USD.

Ok, am a little less angry and booked an appointment, but still...

I know a woman who did all these stress tests and stuff in the wake of her brother nearly dying of a heart attack--passed them all with insanely good results.

Coronary calcium scan...which she had to REQUEST specifically...900. which is terrible. doctor is like oh wow your widowmaker artery almost fully blocked, you need quadruple bypass surgery immediately.

It should be a set thing for people over 50 every few years, for sure.

I had this several years ago and eventually got a cortisone injection to cure it. The good news is that the cortisone worked, and stretching exercises prevented it from returning.

The bad news is that the shot was, by many, many orders of magnitude, the most painful injection I’ve ever received.

Still, ten seconds of pain was worth it.
I think I've got it in my right foot, will likely get the shot if offered.

Mentioned this before but I was having extreme pain in my left foot on and off for a couple years. Turned out it was a fractured accessory bone, a bit of bone that never fused to the rest of my foot when I was a baby. Had to have surgery to remove it, then 4 weeks completely off my foot, another four weeks barely using it, and then a couple months of PT to build back up my strength but on man, it's really nice having a working foot now!

Not today but yesterday saw President Claudia Sheinbaum speak in Mexico City for her 1st 100 Days. Was pretty cool. No idea what she said, but America was mentioned. Crowd was insane.

Last night went to a Mexico City goth club, UTA/Bar Donceles which was a hoot. The Outfield deep cuts passing as goth, Cyndi Lauper, too. Hilarious. Four floors, 6-8 rooms with different DJ in each room. Local craft beers (was OK). Fun time.

Today found some 1990s Christian Dior Dune perfume at an antique shop. Smells fucking amazing.

Also bought this, which is apparently a Mad Magazine type satirical publication.

This was my experience, as well. I had to apologize to the podiatrist afterward for the entirely-involuntary, Tourette’s-like effusion of expletives that erupted from some deep, dark, primordial part of my being when that needle sank into my foot. I honestly wasn’t myself for 10 or 15 seconds that day.

However, 24 hours later, months-upon-months-worth of hobbling pain was but a memory, never to return. It was like a light switch had been flipped.

I shudder to recall it — but I’d do it again.
