The Greenland thing is curious. I've read a few different takes on what's motivating this left field play:

1. Deranged, Howard Hughes-type megalomaniacal fixation on a weird goal.
2. Overlord Musk wants rare earth materials to mine for tech parts.
3. Trump wanted to keep flooding the zone with sensational noise to keep opponents and the media busy, excited and confused.

I honestly don't know which one it is, and I hate that he hasn't taken office yet but already is taking up space in my head.

Apparently there are quite a lot of minerals in Greenland. Also, it's a strategic place in regards to trade routes and military maneuvers, aspecially with the ever receding ice.

I suspect people behind the scenes have been putting the idea in his head.

The reality is that the US strongarmed their way into Greenland during Denmark’s occupation and a rogue Danish ambassador negotiated for the US contractual carte blanche to fuck Greenland up in perpetuity. This is the unspoken truth of the thing. Read more if you like, but the US buried nuclear waste under the ice after their plans of turning Greenland into a gigantic missile base failed due to problematic environmental logistics. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Century
But yeah, we pretty much already own it. Again a case of Trump accidentally being more honest than many, by virtue of his sheer stupidity.

All the fun kicks off next Monday. Four years of chaos and stagnation on every metric other than rich assholes getting richer…

Or actual Fascism in One Country.

Popcorn time.
