you watched that shit?
Yeah. It was pretty nutty. I'm generally confused by the current tastes of republicans. It's almost as if they don't understand art. It's like they're mystified by it.

My youngest (non-binary) just group-texted my family about 30 minutes ago:

“I guess I don’t exist”

And then they went back to playing Animal Crossing.

16-year olds shouldn’t have to worry about their government hating them for just existing.
i'd shut that shit down quick.
"you'd better exist. who else is going to take the trash out around here?"

basically acknowledge that it's serious while matching their sarcasm.

They're fucking philistines, dude. Rascal Flatts and Kid Rock IS as close to art as they get. There's no art in the bible.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

I was going to post this in the books thread but it’s better here.

I cannot recommend this enough. Especially if you’re an early millennial or Gen Xer that lived through the mid 90s to 2008 and were paying an attention to “the culture”.

It’s a fantastic contextualisation of the current world based on US cultural shifts in the 90s onwards. Plus a nice personal journey.

I’m listening on Audible, and is very well narrated.

Chapo had the author on.

I can also see a resurgence of New Atheism kicking off. Sam Harris is vociferously anti Trump and if people like
Elise Stefanik keep getting biblical we could see Bush era weirdness all over again. First as tragedy, then farce.

Looks like a Dr. Strangelove nod to me.
Nah, this wasn't that.
Not sure if you saw the movie, but Dr. Strangelove is a Nazi that still does a Nazi salute because he has an uncontrollable tic....but he's also a well respected advisor for the US government. I'm not really stretching the imagination here.

I've seen the film many times. I don't think Musk was referencing it, that's all. Unless you know he's a Kubrick fan.
