He supports fascist policies, likes and comments on posts made BY Nazis, does a literal sieg heil salute at the inauguration, like if it walks, talks, acts like a duck, it's a fucking duck.
For real.

The whole debate over Roman salute, autism yadda yadda is like the people who split hairs over using the word genocide in reference to the mass murder of Palestinians. I think they're afraid to accept that terrible things are happening and that they've cosigned it again and again, so they have to play word games to distract from their craven cowardice. And those are the relatively good people! The rest are just Nazoid fashits trying to move the Overton window and all that.

Musk is clearly a far right asshole. But his really weird public behaviour and speaking cadence really speaks of mental illness and Asbergers, possibly drug dependency. The weirdly desperate need for approval, the near zero empathic responses, emotional retardation (I mean that technically, not pejoratively). I’ve met a few people with Asbergers over the years and they’re all fallen in to extreme libertarianism and are generally what neurotypical people would call assholes. The plural of anecdote isn’t data but there is an analogue between high functioning ASD and an empathy deficiency that leans towards the far right - I regard libertarianism as a far right ideology - especially post social media rabbit holes.

Not an excuse, but a possible explanation. Zuck is also ASD. It would make be an interesting experiment to find out if Bezo, Thiel etc are also high functioning ASD.

Edit. I just searched Thiel, Autism… surprise! Yes.

The flip side of course is Thunberg…

As I said the counter is people line Thunberg.
As for other groups, I’m not a doctor and already slipped in to cod psychology above.

This study is an interesting counter to my probably poor reasoning.

That ASD primes people for potential environmental factors that lead to extreme and non normative positions.

Him and the people and policies he supports have hurt and killed so many of my loved ones already through their hate, you don't need to give him the fucking benefit of the doubt, he isn't going to be your fucking friend
Yeah, there really isn't any doubt for us to give benefit to at this point. And he doesn't really give a shit one way or another.

Again, I don't think anybody is defending him so much as we're trying to armchair diagnose him. Autism/LARPing/Edgelording/Deadly Serious take your pick. I contend it doesn't make any difference, because the results are the same. The world would be better place without his influence.

You’re right. As far as I know none of us are qualified to diagnose Musk. He’s an asshole that’s a combination of nature and nurture, like all of us. I find him incredibly strange. I’ve watched as many clips of him being interviewed or talking as most people and he’s clearly “off”. He seems desperate for the validation of some mythical audience that appears to be 4Chan users from the mid 00s. That was a Nazi salute. But whether he is an actual Nazi, is moot. He’s a far right nut and seems to have self radicalised from his Twitter addiction.

He’s the greatest example of getting high on his own supply in history.

In the late 70's people looked at the Nazis in Chicago claimed they weren't real Nazis and that's how you get Nazis setting-up HQs and marching through your neighborhoods. They didn't take them seriously; thought they looked foolish. Nerdy. As a kid I took them as all sorts of serious and so did our parents who warned us kids which neighborhoods to avoid.

I would like for people - especially in mainstream media - to try and take this seriously and not diagnose it away. I would like for Americans - especially in mainstream media - to be staunchly and aggressively anti-racist and anti-fascist. It's not the time to be explaining things away or adhering to convention.

Yeah, government already undid affirmative action hiring put into place by Lyndon Johnson in 1965.

BTW, every executive order from the last few days was either in Project 2025 or proposed by Musk, or both. To all those "they aren't actually gonna do that" gas bags we had to suffer through over the last year.
