You should be able to manage that really easily with a shared Dropbox folder, provided both of you have Dropbox Pro and the desktop app etc.

My "Recording" folder on the desktop of my desktop computer is an alias to a dropbox folder that's set to "make available offline," so the files are available locally but it's automatically backing itself up to the cloud. I have an alias of the same folder on the desktop of my laptop which syncs up whenever I use that computer, so I can bring that to my rehearsal space or whatever and the same session is available.

Dropbox makes shared folders pretty straightforward, so it should be simple to pass things back and forth to a collaborator - the one hitch would be working on the same project at the same time, which I assume would rip the fabric of the space time continuum.

That sounds like it’s worth trying. Instead of you accessing the same project on different machines, I wonder if two different DB users could make this work. If so, that would be pretty great.
On Macs you can also do shares for other users so I can share a local reaper project with my bandmate and he can run reaper on his MacBook using the project on my disk. It’s kind of crazy.

I use Parsec for this and other tasks cross platform. Great tool. I play with mixes at work and they are running on my home CPU, if I left the speakers on at home It freaks Heather out.

I meant that he’s running reaper on his CPU but loading the rpp and waves on my Mac. Sorry, there are so many nuances with sharing and I wasn’t clear! But some Remote Desktop situation is on the table as well. We actually tried GitHub a few years ago for this stuff and it worked but was way overkill.

Yeah, we do similar stuff at work, mostly with video editing but we can do it with Audio as well. Pro Tools has the Cloud session thing, but I refuse to use Pro Tools unless it is forced on me.

Yeah, My OG license expired right when 7 hit and I reinvested without thinking twice. If they asked for more money, I'd give it to them.

As a follow up to the Reaper GDrive issue - I dod try loading that project to a new Mac of mine and everything loaded ok and when I peeked at the RPP the file references were like "resources/vocal1.wav". Basically, the relative path I'd expect. I tried again with a totally new project with a sample wav file and then saved everything up to GDrive and again, nice relative paths that didn't contain user name and token gobbledygook.

So I dunno, looking good now? I was also able to run the real project from the cloud while on the Long Island Ferry using my phone as a tethered internet connection (a few hiccups!) but I think I'll keep trying to run projects from cloud storage until there's some reason not to!
