I got to thinking about the concept of Van Palin and Googled it and it turns out she actually named her kid Trig Van Palin after Eddie.
One of those moments where it feels like the Internet is warping itself around my brain, offering up an individualised experience that is not to be trusted.

1942Tom Lehrer is STILL ALIVE?
This just trumped last week's discovery that Anne Vernon (who played Catherine Deneuve's mother in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) likewise still walks the Earth.
Maybe we need a thread devoted to this?

1944This second, or the one that passed while I was reading this? Nothing, my mind was clear.
Re: What are you thinking right this second?
1945I'm thinking about cults.
Really I was thinking about how similar that NXIVM cult was (good doc on that a couple years ago) to what Manson was doing. And how a charismatic leader can pile up enough gobbledygook quasi philosophy and get full compliance from people. Even Scientology seems more nuanced and coherent than either of those, which isn't saying much. It's no wonder people will buy the Trumpian thought salad and make a movement of it.

1950as someone with a soft spot for some of the most meat-and-potatoes generic hardcore of decades past, NYHC really seemed to suck ass for the most part
