fucking shit
I'm tired of pretending that it's stupid to spend a lot of money on records - it isn't! If you have the money to buy original copies of your favorite records that mean the world to you then drop them duckets, son! You can't take money with you, but you just might be taking the last song you ever heard beyond the grave.

Oh, I do intend to get it eventually. It just exceeds the informal “just fucking buy it” threshold that the wifey and I have. So it will be a discussion and she will get something nice in return.

When it comes to language learning, I have found that children's books are - contrary to intuition - not a good option for beginners. Their vocabulary is more advanced than you would expect, they can be full of diminutives and onomatopoeia, and the way they simplify normal language is not to your advantage.

Dubs of animated movies however, provided you know the original, are very good. They have clearly spoken dialogue which lends itself well to being memorized and recited.

This scene I know by heart at this point.

Great acting here too! The uploader has helpfully compiled a heap of different versions of this same scene, of varying quality. The Swedish dub kinda sucks imo, but the Norwegian and Danish ones are good. The English original I curiously don't like as much. James Earl is the goat of course but idk, the British-theatrical way they speak throws me off.

(Also incidentally, I haven't watched this movie since it first came out in theatres, but this is a very good scene in itself. Really establishes the characters.)

My gf Elizabeth and her friend Felicia do a house concert mid-February, every year. Elizabeth plays violin, and Felicia plays piano. This year it’s Gigue from Partita No. 1 in B-flat by J.S. Bach, Levitation by Søren Nils Eichberg, and Adagio from Violin Sonata no. 3, opus 108 by Johannes Brahms.

The day of the concert is always like the lead-up to a prize fight. I have to do a lot of pep talking. She’s shadow boxing (practicing her repertoire) in the living room as I type this. This year she’s a little upset because The Gary is playing a matinee show beforehand and I won’t be around to calm her nerves before her show. Lots of arpeggios coming from the other room, followed by loud F-bombs when she stumbles.

High drama around here, folks! Thank god it’s only once a year. She plays in an orchestra that performs once a month, but it’s never quite as intense as this one.

I think about this a lot. The idea first entered my brain in high school, some time after hearing Nomeansno. I had been reading Robert Anton Wilson and WIlliam S. Burroughs, and thinking about past lives, reincarnation, immortality and the transfer of consciousness beyond physical death. I had the idea that when I die I want to try to bring something with me, some bit of conscious memory that I can use to preserve or trigger some part of my identity, and decided that would be some of my favorite music. Nomeansno made the short memory reboot list.

Speaking on Vitreous Humor FM akosinski once stated that it was music he is taking to the grave and I felt that.
