Alright, I know he's popular, and I've found him funny at times, but I guess I just never considered Jon Stewart as the kind of guy having a "legacy". Also, I also haven't watched him since that Biden-Trump debate, so maybe things have really changed for the worse since then. I'll cede the floor.

If republicans can't stop with Ukraine, which throws 80 years of global leadership and peacekeeping out the window (whether or not you agree with it, it's the most significant aspect of our foreign policy) and Trump tosses all our allies under the bus, there's absolutely no red line for them. Just last week, Lindsey Graham called Zelenksy the hero of his dreams, now he's calling for his resignation. Marco Rubio, same thing. Even though there's literal evidence of him soiling himself on national TV as Trump and Vance did their ambush. This is bigger than even domestic policy, of which they are happy to throw Americans--specifically their own constituents--under the bus as well.

So, if they are willing to allow Americans to die and go hungry and let the global world order to completely shift in favor of the BRICS, just to appease Trump, then there's absolutely nothing that will make them stand up. So we are fucked until further notice.

I don't see it. Granted, I don't look to Stewart for information. He's openly ridiculed people who've treated him as the news in the past. Obviously the show has been 98% political for ages but I look to him for humor mainly, and occasionally for his perspective. I don't need to agree with any comedian provided they have those two things.

He caught a lot of flack last year when Biden and Trump debated and his take was "both of these fuckers are too old to be president". He was not wrong. As for a rightward shift, he seems to be the same moderately progressive guy he's always been. I listened to his podcast episode with AOC and they couldn't stop enthusiastically agreeing with each other about how the Dems need to stop sucking. Similar points to those I've seen here on the PRF.

He's right that Schumer is the kiss of death.
