Yellowjackets (2021) is pretty good. Kind of a Lord of the Flies situation.

I've been sick all week so I got caught up in Kiefer Sutherland's Designated Survivor. I'm halfway through season two. It's fucking terrible. It's like Scooby Doo for adults.

Prime Target is also pretty dumb.

I've played the fuck out Eikoi Ishibashi's "Immitation of Life", such a wonderful record (youtube link for your listening pleasure here). NC for that alone.

Mo on Netflix has been really great. Not the pathos of Ramy (or the surreal shit either), but really pays off at times. Gets a little ridiculous with the last episode of the first season, but that's about it.

Former Forum Member Beth King sent me a text a couple weeks ago about the Black Hawk Down doc on Netflix, and that was also very good, and super fucked.

Watched this on hulu over the weekend. Lovely, but definitely slow cinema if that's not your bag. Also probably not a film for germaphobes (gettin' all up in the toilet with no face mask.. eww)

The most recent episode of Paradise on Hulu (7th of 8 in season one) was absolutely fucking harrowing. I've kind of been just hanging on with the show for the last couple of weeks, but that was some riveting TV.

i loved Perfect Days so much. Wenders is incredible.

Tencent Three Body.

Asura, screenplay and directed by Kore-eda. It's a remake of a series from the late 70s. Seeing Perfect Days posted above reminded me that I was perplexed that Wenders got a Best Foreign Film Oscar nom representing Japan for that movie in the same year that Kore-eda directed one of his best movies. Germans out!

For anyone using Kanopy the Gary Young doc is on there. It's fantastic.


On Kanopy there's also a doc on The Elephant 6 Recording Co. It's okay but lots of slobbering over bands I think are so so . Comparing the Apples in Stereo guy and Brian Wilson was especially eye rolling. Watch the Jobriath AD doc instead.
