There’s no other way to vote. Waffles for day parties.
I'll take your word for it. Never been, though most big festivals I've been to have been crap.

The rest of my band is there but I had already made plans for a trip with my family, so if you see that one of my bands in playing, it's not me.

After the movie came out about Five Eight, there was a big push to get us down to Austin to promo the movie. My sweet wife, who is supportive to the point of nearly being a co-conspirator on my artistic endeavors, was like "Babe. It's the family's turn."

Solid point.

I get it. We all need to be real about what is happening to the world right now, and what we're going to do to take care of the things that are actually important.

I got a surprising message yesterday about "we should play the PRFBBQ this summer because 10 year anniversary blah blah" and it just felt small. It may have gotten me out of a rut in the past but an evening of fun is not gonna fix the most difficult time in my (and I'm sure many others') life. I will find other engagements to get through this.

Anyhoooo, SXSW is a shitshow Crap. I won't go anywhere around Austin that week.

Not to flatter or distract from the thread, but we all need little joys to make it through. Hope you change your mind.

There were some logistical concerns too. I get the small joys thing but maybe those should be new experiences and not something I've done many times (same with Ringo playing SXSW I'm sure).

And to be fair (to ease any perceived callousness) the message also included "..or maybe another time. Or something else entirely".
