Joe Lally!
I can listen to about half a Jesus Lizard song before I get bored.
Re: Bass-o-Dome - the 90s
22Sims had the best basslines
Rutmanis had the sickest tone. I'd go with him since Vern Rumsey is missing.
Seth Lorinczi from Circus Lupus is awesome
Can't remember the name of the Trans Megetti's bass player, but he's a monster.

23Surprising Joe Lally trivia: Flea gave him that Musicman Stingray he used on most of Fugazi's albums.
Haven't heard those, but Hello Everything made me hate jazz fusion for a spell. Don't hate his earlier stuff, though.zorg wrote: If you're going to go down the unfortunate Claypool/Flea route, I would say I enjoy Tom Jenkinson's jazz fusioning (Music Is Rotted One Note/ Budakhan Mindphone) from that era a lot more. Those records hold up.

24Rutmanis for his insane tone and off the wall approach to the instrument. I wish he was still in Melvins, even if that meant Warren had never been with them.
Speaking of, Warren sounds best in Big Biz, more of a 00s player to me.

25Wow, I did not know that. I was hoping there was gonna be an option to vote for the Musicman Stingray here.Shananiganz wrote: Surprising Joe Lally trivia: Flea gave him that Musicman Stingray he used on most of Fugazi's albums.

26If it’s “tone”, an off the list honourable mention is Henry Bogdan of Helmet. I think is sound his really overlooked, probably because he’s mostly, albeit incredibly tightly, hitting root notes. But he made those G&Ls sound like carved wood.

27WTF can’t believe I didn’t notice Vern was missing in the poll, yeah I’d take his playing over probably even Sims.

28Vern has great parts, including his contributions to the best Blonde Redhead album.
Re: Bass-o-Dome - the 90s
29Went with Joe Lally, but Kim Coletta was a close second.
I could also listen to Kim Deal’s bass lines for days.

30Four strings and the truth -podcast had Lally on last year, a great interview. I've always thought Lally was a maybe too serious figure (solely based on his stage presence, though) but surprisingly he was a multidimensional person. Who would've thunk?Teacher's Pet wrote:Wow, I did not know that.
