Just saw that Tom Berg from Self Evident, also an owner of Falling Knife Brewery in MN, died over the weekend. I think he posted on the OG PRF a few times and Self Evident played a PRF BBQ or two. Plus, countless shows with many of our bands over the last 25 years or so. Oh and he brought some of his beers to a BBQ or two as well.

I always looked forward to seeing Tom whenever they came through town. Larger than life dude and personality. Amazing bass player, super fun to watch.

I am in shock. RIP

Wtf, that's really sad. I played a bill with them once (they were close with Bear Claw, who may not have been available that date and recommended us instead) and remember them all being nice. Great bass player indeed, made those parts look effortless. He couldn't have been that old.. goddamn...

I had a weird compulsion to watch some Blondie videos on my phone earlier today, and specifically for Clem. (I was thinking about those mid-song stick twirls he does in the “X-Offender” video.) An hour or so later, I surfed over to the PRF … and this.

I’ve always been a fan. Fuck cancer (some more).

Devastating news. I met Tom once or twice at BBQs and he was a wonderful guy. So friendly and passionate about music and his excellent beer. He made a huge impression on me. He'll be hugely missed. Love to his many friends and to his family.

I just hopped on here because I found out the news tonight that Tom was gone, and I'd wondered whether anyone at the PRF knew him. I haven't seen him as much as I did when I was more active in the Twin Cities music scene, but I'd known Tom for probably at least 25 years and he was hands-down one of the kindest, most upbeat, friendliest people you could meet on this earth. Terrific bass player, incredible beer maker, and exactly the person you want in your corner. I can't believe he's gone. What a fucking loss.
