When Jimmy Page came to Rich Robinson and said "we should write some songs together," RR's reply was basically "nah, we already have enough songs written for the next album." Moron. And Jimmy Page sensibly moved on from the Black Crowes.

Imagine you play rhythm guitar in a bluesy rock band and Jimmy Page asks to write songs with you. Jimmy Page from LED ZEPPELIN. And you say NO. Incredible. You couldn't make that shit up.

It's a bit sad that The Queen's Mancunian asshole brothers are beating our southern asshole brothers. And I think I voted Oasis on the strength of Liam.

Black Crowes make better music than Oasis and seem easier to have fun with. (Weed, incense, carpets.)

Anyway, Black Crowes are an absolutely neutral band. Oasis are worse but their highs were higher, e.g. Supersonic.

I voted Oasis.

i kind of like the black crowes. i absolutely loved their behind the music episode. they seem crazy, but i’m not in the band, so i don’t care.

oasis seem like a chore to be around in a different way. like you wouldn’t be laughing afterwards. that being said, they have a few good songs.

i don’t really know what we’re voting on - who are bigger assholes? what is the better band?

The Black Crowes' first hit (Hard to Handle) was an awful cover of a perfectly good Otis Redding song . Oasis are certainly derivative and boring in their own way, but they didn't do that.

Whether or not it resulted in a record anyone would like isn't the point. Rich Robinson, a man whose best song is "Remedy", didn't think he could learn anything about songwriting from Jimmy Page. Didn't even want to give it a try.
