Re: Incredible Pieces of Band Merch

I've always been kinda impressed and appalled by the KISS Kaskets. I'm sure there's a market for them among die hard fans, but there's something presumptuous about making merch that implicitly says, "Even in death, you'll want to be associated with our band." The KISS Kaskets are like a more binding iteration of the Metallica shirt that says, "Birth | School | Metallica | Death." And knowing some of the views Gene Simmons has espoused, they may or may not be tongue in cheek!

Stereolab has always had great merch: Coffee mugs, camping mugs, beach towels, coasters. It's a great idea.

Edit: Email showed up with Stereolab egg cups. Cute!

I suppose A Place to Bury Strangers has a rad piece of merch in their Synthesizer record that was also a circuit board you make into a synthesizer with the proper kit and know-how.

Nothing incredible here - but I like the trend of more “mature” bands selling band tea towels - cool AND practical - who doesn’t use a tea towel in their daily life?!
My Dirty 3 tea towel has pride of place in my kitchen. Went to a metal gig recently and the band were selling band track suits and gym shorts - seems kinda silly, but welll why not?
As for the pillowcase thing - meh…
