I don’t get the China comparison either. Ever been to Washington DC?
It wasn't so much a China comparison as it was a Mao comparison.

Are any of our presidents entombed in a giant fucking mausoleum in Washington DC for all of the country's citizens to come back and visit?

The sheer magnitude of everything dedicated to Mao is SO MUCH BIGGER than anything dedicated to any one president in DC.

Trump wants his to be so much bigger than anyone else. Hence, Mao comparison.
I hope to go too one day. The more I read about China the more bad ass it seems.

It's chilling.

That dead fucker's face is plastered EVERYWHERE. And so many people there seem to worship him as their god. I saw people leaving the mausoleum overwhelmed with emotion, bawling their eyes out.

I also was massively creeped out by Tiananmen Square. The huge portrait of Mao outside the Forbidden City is really something else. It was the only place in China were I saw a profound police/military presence. I went to Beijing after graduating college, summer of 2010. The Olympics had been there and they were still in the process of razing hutongs.

I was so impressed by the people there, especially the elderly. I was jetlagged as hell, walking around Beijing at 4 am, and people were outside playing games and drinking tea and shooting the shit. There was like, calisthenic exercise equipment on corners. This is all near Tsinghua University, so probably it's nicer than other parts?

I also rememebr buying an "ObaMao" coin purse from a kiosk at the Summer Palace. Couldn't tell if it was a compliment or a dig or what. Sadly, it has been lost to time.

The Shit Bill passed. In addition to the horrible stuff already discussed, ICE is now the most funded federal enforcement agency in history. I'm sure there will be more alligator concentration camps to come.

HAPPY FOURTH EVERYONE. I want to puke.
