If you can find any red G**dman speakers, get them!
There’s a vintage Orange vertical 2x12 going very cheap nearby with a Goodmans Audiom and Celestion Creamback in it, very tempting. If I didn’t already have 5 different cabs I’d be all over it.

Got a crappy little nylon string, west texas style, off the wall for the cost of a guitar pedal. It sounded better than other classical guitars for 2 or 3x the price. I could have kept comparing but got tired of tuning them all. It had a cool sort of plucky dry sound.

Intonates ok up and down the neck, at least when checked by ear against open strings. No cutaway or pickup, as god intended. Works for me!

I've found that you gotta get up in the $5000 range before any Nylon doesn't feel just like any garbage nylon, so garbage nylons it is for me.
I agree and disagree.

I work for the big, Japanese Y, and they are famous for their acoustic and classical guitars (and jet skis). I felt like I should be playing one of their classical guitars. I found a forgotten, MIJ, amazing classical guitar that was used for a research project kicking around the office, so I claimed it. I don't own it, but I pretty much have full use of it until someone else needs it back, which is probably never. This is like a $2,000+ guitar and, if it was mine, it would be a lifetime instrument. just astounding.

At home, I have an Alhambra that I got from a friend who used to work at a guitar store. I traded him something for it, but it was still a $400 tops at the time. The thing was, my guitar shop friend got to play every guitar that came in and picked this one because it seemed exceptional. And it is. It is 97% as good as the MIJ Yamaha, at 1/5th the price. But it was a curated purchase. This is my backup lifer classical guitar.

I've played a LOT of nylon string guitars in the $500 and under price range, and usually they feel like beaters. They can't hold a candle to the Alhambra or the very nice Yamaha. They might feel great, but the sound is always missing something.

I've been working on Clair de Lune recently. I found a more beginner arrangement that is both challenging and satisfying. The more my work gets gear-intense, the more I enjoy playing acoustic.

I'll also toe the company line on this one because for the price I love Taylor's Academy Nylon. $800 new, you can find them for $500 used often enough.

There is definitely something about a multi $$$$ nylon sounding magical, but I can make due. A $20 garage sale nylon, half out of tune - there's something about that too - different songs.

I'm being hyperbolic, but just a little. I have played some crazy expensive Classicals that feel fine and sound maybe only a little better than something in the $500 range. I have a $350 ish Ibanez, and it is fine, but the tuners could be better. A friend had an early 80 Yamaha (brand colloquially known as Yammy Jammer in this house) and it was one of the best sounding and playing guitars I've ever heard when placed in someones hands more skillfull than mine. It was a pretty basic model. Nothing special, maybe even a student thing judging by the finish. I dipped into a specialty store once and picked up a random guitar on a stand that looked just like every other guitar in the store and it was the finest sounding acoustic guitar I've ever touched, and the dude was like... please be careful, its $5000 or something and I thought it was probably a fair price because it sounded like $5000.
