Great movie - some obvious flaws - but I was entertained all the way thru (rare for me). Went in cold not knowing much - nice pay off w the crazy ending. Lots of nods to many other things, but so what - good stuff
I will never run with my arms at a 45 degree angle again

1212There's an overarching metaphor to that whole film that I was starting to get right after I saw it, but didn't fully put the allegory together. The gun in the sky vision, weaponized automatons of it all. What's the trigger, media? Parents? Or maybe it's just that people's mob like visciousness is weaponized by controlling figures/politics.Iancee wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 1:19 am Weapons

At any rate an engaging spectacle. I'd love to see more new horror of this flavor.

1213Yes - agree w you there - the viciousness of human behaviour when our backs are against the wall was laid out well - that and the reminder that modern America is polarised and divided as fuck - uncomfortable truths…losthighway wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 8:18 amThere's an overarching metaphor to that whole film that I was starting to get right after I saw it, but didn't fully put the allegory together. I went back and watched it again the next day - there’s two stories there - the horror of our own world and that of the “other” that we have no control of
(Sorry to get all movie critic on ya
Also - very strong ties to ‘It Follows’ on several levels - urban life, linear tracking ghouls etc etc. if any folks ain’t seen that, get there - an incredible film

1214I saw it at an afternoon matinee by myself and there were maybe two other people in the theater and when it got to THAT PART of the ending I was laughing so hard that I must have freaked out those few other people.Iancee wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 1:19 am Weapons

Curious how it'll play at home on a second viewing, but I walked out of that theater into the afternoon sun pretty damn elated.

1215Margin Call, probably for the 4th time. I think maybe it's the best "The finance world is a bunch of criminals" films made.

1216Oh no, I asked for it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I think I audibly shouted, "YESSS!" while laughing in my basement. Either they were going for that or we're both a little off.tallchris wrote: I saw it at an afternoon matinee by myself and there were maybe two other people in the theater and when it got to THAT PART of the ending I was laughing so hard that I must have freaked out those few other people.

1217Watched Nouvelle Vague last night. Liked it quite a lot!
. . . but my hot take is that Blue Moon was the Richard Linklater masterpiece of 2026.
