Look, for all the grotesque flaws of the Israeli government, the US government is more than capable of making its own terrible decisions. I’m probably nit picking here, but I never like the idea of Israel having some mysterious power.

The raw fact is that whether we like it or not all of our governments are allies of Israel. Often critical allies (hopefully) but there is zero chance any of our governments are not going to behave neutrally or potentially take side with Israel’s enemies. Period. This had pretty much been the case since 1948. The US and USSR almost immediately recognised it, with Iran following pretty closely. 1949 it was admitted into the UN.

Slight rant here, but if we don’t recognise the reality of this, every conversation about this country is always out of context. IMO
