More grandstanding for yet another over-rated dead rock star.

12i have heard only 2 t.rex albums -- electric warrior and my people were fair...
i enjoyed them both, and found them both to be excellent for different reasons.

14marc bolan and kurt cobain -- both overrated. even if kurt cobain was great he'd be overrated, and he's not even that imo.

15I more a fan of the hippy dippy stuff pre-Electric Warrior (Beard of Stars anyone?), but it's all pretty good, except after Tanx, he kind of tanked.

16Jesus, I love T. Rex. I just picked up used copies of the 2-disc reissue of Dandy in the Underworld and a compilation album (of ...Zip Gun and Zinc Alloy... stuff) called Light of Love in Nashville last weekend. The former is very, very good; much better than I expected from Bolan post-Tanx. The latter is mostly pretty bad, and reminds me of why I never picked up the two albums it pulls tracks from.
In a week, Born to Boogie will finally be released on DVD. I've had it preordered for a while now and am pretty excited about it. There was also a nifty T. Rex article in a recent issue of Mojo, if anyone cares...

17I kind of missed them for a long time, now love them/him.
The bad songs are really bad. But Slider, Jeepster, 20th Century, Get It On...I think they were definitely a band whose most popular songs were their best.
To write a song called "Children Of The Revolution" in which you sing the line "I drive a Rolls-Royce/'Cuz it's good for my voice," I think that's perfect. That is exactly how a rock star should address the "revolution."
Did he ever write a song that wasn't in the key of E?

18I got the Born to Boogie DVD for Christmas and watched it last night. Until now, I was only into the early, Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff. After watching B2B I realized how much I love the rockin' stuff, too.

'cosmic dancer' is probably my favorite trex song (that i've heard). the lyrics are absurd, but it's very moving regardless.
Yeah, Cosmic Dancer is a great song, despite the fact that's it not all that original. Marc Bolan has repetition on his side.
