alexdamon and i one day decided to drink mad dog 20/20(no one warned us) in mobile alabama. i, being a dumb bastard, drank 2 bottles to alexs 1. well i dont remember much, but i do remember alex tackling me in some bushes, waking up abandoned in mobile, and there is a young lady that refuses to talk to me to this day. i have never felt so bad in my life.

Elsewhere, I wrote:You also need to have your electrolytes balanced to really rehydrate. So, in addition to water, you need sodium and potassium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrolyte

It's all about intracellular vs. extracellular fluid. Ions move by osmotic gradient, and water follows the ions (sodium, especially). Glucose facilitates the transport of sodium. http://www.bmb.leeds.ac.uk/teaching/icu3/mdcases/ws4/

In a liter container, mix:
8 tsp sugar
(energy and electrolyte absorption)
1 tsp salt
and
1/2 cup OJ or
half a mashed banana

ORS Formula (WHO and UNICEF) http://rehydrate.org/ors/the_salts_of_life.htm

This is also why gatorade and pedialyte are so great.

However, I dig all the vitamins, minerals, berry-ness and fizz of Emer'gen-C.

I never posted it before...but I can second bumble's recipe. I always try and have a bottle of it pre-made in the refrigerator. If not I always go with the bottle of Gatorade and four Advil's before bed. The Advil makes you retain water (or something like that) and so it really helps prevent the hangover from even starting.

Take the xanax when you get up in the morning, not before bed - that's what I do. That and a little of the 'ol alka seltzer morning relief (as I think mattw mentioned) or BC powder (as it has caffiene as well), and I really enjoy my hangover.

I drink bourbon, tequila, and vodka all straight, never mixed drinks except the occasional sapphire and tonic and the only beers I like are belgian and trappist, so I understand the hangover well. i do drink double-fisted however, so I ALWAYS have a glass/bottle of water by my side while drinking. It makes a hell of a difference.

If i have nothing to do that day, sometimes I'll cure my hangover with a few bloody marys, greyhounds or beers like Tucher or Blue Moon. That takes care of it instantly.

I've deduced that most of the hangover experience comes from how many cigarettes I smoked the night before. That's the worst. Bleeeeeeeech!
The cat with the toast, once it's free in the air, will float at its cat-toast equilibrium point, where butter repulsion forces and cat forces are in balance.

A friend talked to an NFL trainer and asked him "what do you give the players for a hangover?" After a denial that pro-ballers arrive at work hungover he gave it up...h2o or gatoraide and sinus medicine. evidently the sinus meds hits the same part of the head that the hangover hits.

i am not just a spokesman but a member too...the shit works.

this couldn't be more true,
i'm ridiculously hung over today
and i'm almost positive its from the whole pack
of cigarettes i smoked last night

i tried to have a cigarette earlier today, it made me sick

i had one of those Emergen-C packets - it helped for like an hour,
now i'm back to feeling like death
