Shellac - Doris (this by itself makes me want to go buy my own drum kit)
Fugazi - Waiting Room
Brant Bjork & the Bros - Lazy Bones -> Automatic Fantastic (I guess you could say Lazy Bones is all intro for Automatic Fantastic... as far as I know they open every damn show with this, but I tell you what I think it works)
Mudhoney - Broken Hands (I still say bonus style points for taking the outro from Cinnamon Girl and putting it to a different use)
Kiss - Larger Than Life
Jimi - Hey Baby New Rising Sun
I would like to second Big Star - Back Of A Car (actually I love the LACK of intro - one of those songs that leaps right into the first verse from the word go and dammit it works)
Bone Machine - Pixies
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
Happy Guy - Devo (one of the only songs from 'Total Devo' that I'd actually defend)
did someone already say AC/DC - For Those About To Rock
Danzig - It's Coming Down (Danzig may be a funny guy, but I still love how this song starts off that Thrall ep)
Vic Chesnutt - Withering
Tuxedomoon - Jinx
AC/DC - Walk All Over You
Also, I'll see your Rolling Stones- "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" and I'll raise one Rolling Stones "Sway" from same
We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It! - Love Is The Slug
(c'mon you Brits - I expect a good lashing for this one, but I still love it!)
oh yeah "Angel Of Death" - it hardly needed to be stated - but damn - still never get over that one - it will earn me a speeding ticket every damn time
I know I'll think of a zillion more after I hit the 'submit' button...

84If you ever really want to annoy somebody, turn down the volume and skip ahead until the end of 'Walk All Over You', when it gets quiet. Then turn it up full blast.
YOU! OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
Trust me. It works.

i actually prefer the bit where adrock screams which isnt the very start.
do i need to delete this post.
or is that what you mean
I was just wondering (kind've aloud) if there is a difference between a great into and an intro to a great song. I love the intro to Sabotage, but do I love it because it's followed by one of my favourite tracks (Sabotage) or because the intro is great.
That's all.
Don't panic Sir Rysie; deep breathes...
morning lord rabbiton
thanks for the explanation. it is most definitely both a great intro and great song. even if the song were crapiton that intro would be great.
thinking on my arse. maybe a link to great intros of bad songs.

Nope; with Mrs Rabbit so close to kittening, heavy drinking is not a marvelous idea!
I like your good intro/crap song idea too.
Also good morning.

90My favorites are uniformly poppy. Not sure how many of these have been mentioned, but here goes:
Underground - Versus. It practically defines indie pop.
Heroin - Velvet Underground
Summer Babe - Pavement
Debaser - Pixies
Cannonball - Breeders (unorthodox, brilliant)
Carry the Zero - Built to Spill
The Puppet - Echo & the Bunnymen
Only Shallow - My Bloody Valentine (maybe the best album opener ever)
Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel
Age of Consent - New Order
Back on the Chain Gang - Pretenders
