I think a lot of the genius of Seinfeld is that Larry David got millions of people laughing AT Jerry Seinfeld when he (Jerry) thought they were laughing WITH him (at least for a while). Of course, Larry knew making a fool of yourself was a winner way before Curb, what with George being him and all, but it was like he hadn't let Jerry in on the secret. So you get Jerry's stupid little grins every time he cracks a joke and everyone hates him! Comedy Gold!

Not Crap. (For many other reasons, as well as those listed above. I have other stuff to do. Like, uhhhh....)

Gets a NOT CRAP from me, mainly for reducing the pro-life/pro-choice debate to a question of when a pizza becomes a pizza:

"But it's not a pizza until it comes out of the oven!"
"It's a pizza the minute you stick-a your fists in the dough! On this, there can be no debate!"

I worked on the Jerry Seinfeld Standup Confidential about twenty years ago, well before the TV show. I got to see his standup act, this was in the midst of the Big Standup Comic Club Era. At the time I was subjected to countless non-funny asses who used "fuck" to get a laff. Jerry was excellent and his routine could have easily been a PG-13 rated show. I told so many people to check the guy out, and was pleasantly surprised when he got the TV show. I think it's funny. I found Jerry to be a great standup comic, and a pretty decent guy.

If you like Joel Hodgson (MST3K), he wrote a bunch of the Standup Confidential stuff with Jerry and is in it.
