Not Crap.
Christian Bale looked kinda' silly in the uniform though.
Also, becoming Batman does not require you to drop your voice an octave.(maybe it does?)
I was Pleasantly suprised overall. 1 and 2 rate the best with me.

13I saw this at the local IMAX, it made it incredible. This was probably the best action movie I've seen in the last 5 years. Not Crap

Wait, wouldn't that be the prequel?
I'm eagerly anticipating: Batman Retires. Starring Jack Nicholson.

17....has anyone seen the Movie "The Machinist". Christian Bale made it right before Batman and I heard about it on NPR. I saw it last night and it was excellent. He weighed like 100 pounds and it is all the more shocking in comparison to how he looks in Batman.
...and Jennifer Jason Leigh is in it and she is not in enough stuff these days. Someone start a Crap/Not Crap about her.....

18This was a damn good movie. There are about three lines I would really like to cut out of the film ("I got to get me one of those," "nice coat," "I'm Batman" etc.) but otherwise, I was thoroughly entertained. I can't remember the last "event" movie that I enjoyed as much as this.
I don't know about all this "realism" shit people are attributing to the movie, as there is very little about it that's "realistic." I think what they mean is that it's "less ridiculous than the other Batman movies."
Also, it just looks great. The cinematography, the locations (especially the ghetto referred to as "the narrows" and the cave), and the weird hallucinogenic scenes make it fun to simply look at. And thank God there's no fucking John Williams, Danny Elfman, James Horner musical score.
I don't like superhero movies (except for the first Superman movie), but this was good. Kicks the shit out of the crappy X-Men, Spider-man, and Hulk movies.
I wonder, is the fact that Nolan didn't roll any credits (including the title) until the very end a sign that he's not a member of the director's guild? I thought that was pretty interesting.

20It was pretty good. Although I was hoping for the Scarecrow to get it in the end. That guy just annoyed me. I hated his fancy pants glasses.
You can't put Rutger Hauer, Morgan Freeman, Christian Bale, Michael Cain and Katie Holmes in a movie and have it be crap. No CGI either- a big plus.
