That isn't luck. It's called meeting people, working with them, and doing everything you can to get your music infront of people that will help you release it. In addition, if my music wasn't decent - no matter how much Slim heard it wouldn't have made him sign me.

Obviously, no music is objectively good or bad, so I'd say it's down to luck that any label owner liked your music enough to sign you. The fact that KRS signed you doesn't make your music or your work ethic any more or less valid than any other musician's.

mymusicisrubbish wrote:MY POINT, is that music, like anything else involves you working harder than everyone else while simultaneously doing something unique enough that makes your music interesting or relevant. However, this second part is not a requirement.

Yeah, I should have just dropped out and posted on messageboards for a living. That would have made for a much better story.

It actually might.

As it is, your story is not particularly unique or interesting (I don't blame you for not being able to see that). Nor is your music, in my opinion. And my opinion would be the same no matter how hard you worked, if your hard work continued to lead you to making the boring indie rock music you currently make.

I sincerely hope everything works out for you.

this attitude reminds me of the attitude i got from another KRS artist... he made statements like "i have an album to promote! what do you have? yeah, that's right, you have nothing!"

and by "this attitude", i mean the one that is reflected in the "SUPER TREE" bullshit posts. i only wish i could say what was said the first time around. was it half as arrogant as the tone of the SUPER TREE posts?

if it's such incredibly hard work for you to make music and get people into it, maybe you should just stop? obviously it's your call.
