you can get cable snakes that have 1/4" connectors on one end and RCA connectors on the other end ("RCA" is the term for the connectors on your tape machine). the 1/4" connectors don't need to be TRS. with a T/S connector, you will not use balanced signals for your inputs and outputs, but it will work fine.

i have that same tape machine, and i have a soundcraft 800B 16x8x2. my setup is to take the direct outputs from each of the 16 input channels, and send them to the 16 inputs on the tape machine. if you are using more than 16 inputs (which i cannot do), this setup will be a problem for you. what you can do then is to send 8 of your input channels direct to the tape machine, and mix the rest of the inputs to the 8 submixes, and then send the 8 submixes to the other 8 inputs on your tape machine.

i hope that makes sense to you!

soundtracs midi pc's are 16 buss. i own one myself and i think it's the mutts nuts to be honest. it's in-line, 24 channels 24 returns, with great mic pres for what they cost. the eq is splitable between the main faders and the tape returns. you also have midi mutes which can be quite useful if thats your bag. my only quibble would be that there is no phase invert, and there are no sub-groups.

i paid £300 for it which to be fair was very cheap, but these are great desks at twice the price, and to my knowledge one of VERY few 16 buss console designs ever manufactured.

basicaly, buy one.
