Theory: Chicago as the new Gay Mecca

In fact, I read that Minneapolis has the highest per-capita concentration of gay residents of any US city...even more than SF.

I dunnnnno. Chicago has always been able to out SF SF... Even with hippies. SF had it's flower power, but the threat of LSD in the water supply made Chicago the super-hippie-flower-power city.

Again, Chicago out-does SF with being a much gayer city. By "gayer", it's not so much the per-capita population. SF loses there everytime. It's how vocal this minority is... This year's location of the Gay Games clinches it.

While I'm not gay, I'm proud that my city welcomes such gayness. Now, if only Evan Dando would consider re-locating.

Gay segregation is because of descrimination and also the all to human need to hook up. I too find gay drum and bugle corps to be a bit odd, but they do play gay music... Like that "I'm comin' out" song. You know "I want the world to know... got to let it show". They also play a fair amount of the Cure. Like that song about waking up with a "man inside my mouth". Yeah, Robert... like we didn't already know. He married a nurse so he could save on visits to the emergency room to have lubricated foreign objects retrieved from his anus. But that's OK. He was born that way... more power to him.

That satire piece was originally published in The Onion.

It was reprinted at freerepublic.com, but it was originally published in The Onion. That's why I said that it was from The Onion and not freerepublic.com.

I think that you used at least three unironic exclamation points yesterday, which struck me as an explosion of good cheer from you. So my intent was to say that it's nice to see Angus Jung in a lighter mood from time to time.

See how I make jokes about mental illness? See how that's funny?

I knew that the article was from The Onion. I expect The Kid knew it too. What I was referring to by "Ugh" and "train-wreck", and what I expect The Kid was referring to in his comment was not the article itself, but the feces-flinging contest that followed at the site you linked to.

Yes, it was a funny Onion article!
Why do you make it so scary to post here.

Okay. That wasn't clear to me.

No probs.

Hey, if Chicago is the new Gay Mecca, what's the new Gay Ka'aba? I mean, that would be pretty important information if you're gay and living in Chicago, right?

Yes, for the record, I understood this. My comment referred to the responses to the article.
When I rubberneck at those websites, I end up feeling like I want to puke.
